KJCCC Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week - Week 2
COLBY, Kan. – A school record performance for Fort Hays Tech Northwest sprinter Mikela Coombs and a national qualifying mark in the hammer throw for Cloud County sophomore Margherita Sala have led to Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors for week two of the 2025 season.
Mikela Coombs (Fort Hays Tech NW) – KJCCC Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week
Coombs ran a school-record time of 25.33 seconds in the 200 meters at the West Texas Relays, finishing as the fifth-fastest NJCAA runner in the event at the meet.
Margherita Sala (Cloud County) – KJCCC Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week
Sala had a pair of top 10 finishes at the Bethel College open to begin the outdoor season last Saturday for Cloud County, finishing third in the hammer throw with a national qualifying mark of 45.72 meters. The mark currently ranks fourth in the NJCAA this season.
