8 KJCCC Volleyball Players Named NJCAA All-Americans
NJCAA Division 1 Volleyball All-America Teams | NJCAA Division 2 Volleyball All-America Teams
CHARLOTTE, NC – The NJCAA has released their 2024 NJCAA Volleyball All-America Teams with eight players from five Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference schools all earning All-America honors for their performances throughout the 2024 season.
Included in the group named All-Americans are NJCAA Division 1 Volleyball First-Team All-America selections Phoebe Reyes (Barton) and Amanda Caputi (Colby) along with Second-Team All-American selection Karlotta Kattai (Colby) while Cowley’s Laura Bonomi and Hanna Darvas were both named NJCAA Division 2 Volleyball First-Team All-Americans while Bella Hedke (Johnson County) was a Second-Team All-American along with Third-Team All-American selections Sara Puskas (Cowley) and Mercedez Brown (Kansas City Kansas).
Phoebe Reyes (Barton) NJCAA Division 1 Volleyball First Team All-American
After being named an NJCAA Division 1 Volleyball Second-Team All-America selection last year, Reyes adds First-Team All-America honors to become a two-time All-American at Barton after being named the KJCCC D1 Volleyball Player of the Year for the second-straight season while leading Barton to a fourth-place finish at the NJCAA Division 1 Volleyball National Tournament. Averaging 3.23 kills per set and finishing the year with 368 total kills, Reyes also had 70 total blocks and an average of 3.5 points per set which ranked 41st among NJCAA D1 volleyball players.
Amanda Caputi (Colby) – NJCAA Division 1 Volleyball First Team All-American
Helping to run the Colby offense as the Trojan setter, Caputi averaged 11.23 assists per set to lead NJCAA Division 1 volleyball and had 1,325 total assists this season along with 43 total service aces and 63 total blocks. Helping Colby to a third-place finish at the NJCAA Division 1 Volleyball National Tournament after helping the Trojans to a second-straight appearance at the National Tournament, Caputi finished just 76 set assists shy of also leading NJCAA D1 volleyball in total set assists.
Karlotta Kattai (Colby) – NJCAA Division 1 Volleyball Second Team All-American
Named the KJCCC Division 1 Volleyball Freshman of the Year, Kattai made an immediate impact for the Trojans as a freshman this year by leading the team in total kills (434) and kills per set (4.02) while ranking fourth nationally in kills per set and 11th nationally in total kills. Adding 60 service aces which ranked 20th nationally, Kattai also had 293 digs and 22 total blocks for Colby while helping the Trojans to a second-straight NJCAA Division 1 Volleyball National Tournament appearance and an eventual third-place finish.
Laura Bonomi (Cowley) – NJCAA Division 2 Volleyball First Team All-American
The NJCAA Division 2 Volleyball National Tournament Most Valuable Player, Bonomi becomes a two-time NJCAA Division 2 Volleyball First-Team All-American after leading the Tigers to a second-consecutive undefeated season and NJCAA National Title. Bonomi was also the KJCCC Division 2 Volleyball Player of the Year after finishing the year fifth nationally in total kills (560) and seventh nationally in kills per set (4.48) while also recording 85 service aces (eighth nationally) and 431 total digs.
Hanna Darvas (Cowley) – NJCAA Division 2 Volleyball First Team All-American
Darvas was named the KJCCC Division 2 Volleyball Freshman of the Year after helping run the Cowley offense as the primary setter and finishing the year as the NJCAA Division 2 Volleyball leader in set assists per set (12.31) while ranking fourth nationally in total set assists (1,440). Adding 63 total service aces and 312 digs, Darvas also had 30 total blocks and 63 kills for the Tigers this past season.
Bella Hedke (Johnson County) – NJCAA Division 2 Volleyball Second Team All-American
Providing one of the biggest defensive presences in the conference this past season, Hedke was a second-team All-KJCCC selection after leading the league in blocks per set (1.25) which ranked seventh nationally after recording 152 total blocks this season. Adding 268 kills and averaging 2.20 kills per set, Hedke hit .268 offensively and averaged 2.9 points per set.
Sara Puskas (Cowley) – NJCAA Division 2 Volleyball Third Team All-American
A First-Team All-KJCCC Division 2 Volleyball selection and named to the NJCAA Division 2 Volleyball All-Tournament team, Puskas helped Cowley to a second-straight unbeaten NJCAA Division 2 Volleyball National Title by recording 408 total kills to rank 35th nationally and a .341 attack percentage. Puskas also had 52 total blocks and 38 total service aces for the Tigers this past season.
Mercedez Brown (KCKCC) – NJCAA Division 2 Volleyball Third Team All-American
Brown was a KJCCC Division 2 Volleyball First-Team selection and named to the NJCAA Division 2 Volleyball National Tournament All-Tournament team after helping the Blue Devils to a fourth-place finish at the NJCAA Division 2 Volleyball National Tournament. Brown was a three-time KJCCC D2 Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week selection this year and finished the season with 413 total kills (32nd nationally) while averaging 3.20 kills per set and finishing with 61 total service aces.
