Riann Mullis, the current athletic director at Neosho County Community College, serves as the assistant women's region director for Region 6.
Mullis enters her fourth year as the Athletic Director for Neosho County Community College. During her time as Athletic Director, Mullis assisted with the implementation of the Heat Illness Policy and Procedure at Neosho County Community College as well as the transition to NJCAA DII for both Men's and Women's Basketball and Soccer programs. Riann is in her first year as Region VI Assistant Women's Director and represents the sport of volleyball at both the conference and national level serving as the NJCAA DII and KJCCC Volleyball Chair. Mullis also acts as a committee member for NJCAA DII Oversight Committee and competitive cheer. In addition to athletic duties, Mullis serves as The Title IX Coordinator at NCCC.
Riann comes to the Panthers from NCAA Division II, Chadron State College where she established a culture of winning in her three years. Coach Mullis brought home 10 wins, making it the most successful season for CSC volleyball since 2007. Mullis guided Seniors Emily Bruce and Gabriela Varela to a high level as they received All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference honorable mention recognition. A total of five volleyball athletes also received Academic All-RMAC honor roll recognition. In her time at CSC Mullis served on a variety of institutional committees.
Prior to Chadron State Mullis coached at Cowley College. She was a part of two NJCAA Championship seasons while at Cowley, and one runner-up finish. In 2012, she was named the American Volleyball Coaches Association Two-Year College Assistant Coach of the Year. As the head coach for the Tigers, Mullis went 56-22 (17-1 conference), earning two conference and two district championships, and she finished both seasons among the top six teams at the national tournament. She was named the Jayhawk Conference East Division Co-Coach of the Year in 2014, in her very first year as a head coach.
A proud alumnus, Mullis was an all-conference and all-district libero at Neosho County Community College. After playing two seasons at Neosho County, she transferred to NCAA Division II Pittsburg State, where she served as a defensive specialist and helped lead the Gorillas to a pair of top-25 rankings and a trip to the NCAA Division II National Tournament.
Riann obtained both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Pittsburg State University. She and her husband, Scot, have a daughter, Ruby (9), and reside in Chanute, Kansas.
