The Colby Trojans lost to the Hutchinson Blue Dragons 96-81 on Monday in the final game before the semester break.
Colby held a 12-10 advantage four minutes in, but then Hutch got hot and built a 23-point lead at 51-28. A strong finish by the Trojans ended the half on a 19-6 run and reduced the deficit to 57-47.
Colby climbed to within six in the second half after an Anthony Sellars bucket made the score 59-53. It would be as close as they would get as turnovers plagued the Trojans late in the attempted comeback.
The Dragons got 21 points and 11 rebounds from Aaron Franklin. Ra'Sean Frederick had 17 points.
Sellars led all scorers with 22 points. Mike Bell added 21 on four three-point baskets. Joshua O'Garro chipped in 15, while Jaxon Pillich was also in double figures with 13.
After the holiday break, the Trojans are back at the Colby Event Center on Jan. 4 to host the Cowley Tigers at 7:30 p.m.
