NO. 1 WARRIORS RUN PAST CONQUISTADORS IN KC

Kansas City, KS – The top-ranked team in the nation continued its unbeaten run as No. 1 Indian Hills Men's Soccer rolled to a 4-1 victory over Dodge City Community College (KS) on Sunday. The Warriors move to 12-0-1 on the year.

Indian Hills erupted for three second half goals to run away from the Conquistadors in Kansas City. Santiago Cardenas (Lima, Peru/Bruno Traverso Damonti) buried the final two goals of the afternoon to secure the win for the Warriors, the team's seventh consecutive victory.

Hugo Sotomayor (Murcia, Spain/IES Alcantara) collected the complete game victory in net for the Warriors, the freshman's second win of the year. Sotomayor stopped four shots while allowing just one first half goal.

Indian Hills opened up the scoring in the 11th minute as sophomore Daniel Mulero (Asturias, Spain/Salesianos Santo Angel Aviles) found the back of the net on a penalty kick. Dodge City hit paydirt in the closing minutes of the first half, a goal at the 41:34 mark to even the score at one.

The Warriors managed to strike back in the 60th minute as Diego Lazaro (Laval, Canada/Horizon-Jeunesse) scored on assists from Lucas Bauer (Oldenburg, Germany/IGS Kreyenbruck) and Fabian Arroyo (Ciudad Quesada, Costa Rica/Liceo San Carlos). Less than three minutes later, Cardenas produced his first goal of the match on an assist from Lazaro. Cardenas put the game out of reach at the 67:15 mark on assists from Sotomayor and Vittorio Bellesi (Breno, Italy/Olivelli Putelli).

Mulero, who ranks second in the nation with 31 points on the year, scored a goal for the ninth game in the team's last 10 outings and has scored a goal in all but two contests this year. Lazaro has continued an exceptional stretch of play for the Warriors. With the three points on Sunday, the freshman has now tallied 12 points (4g, 3a) in the team's last six matches.

Indian Hills now turns its attention to Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) foe Iowa Western Community College at home on October 13. Kick-off with the Reivers, currently ranked No. 6 in the nation, is set for 3:00 PM.
