
Broncbuster track with big weekend at a Region VI Finals
Women:
-Kerrishma Williams highlighted the weekend with an outstanding performance in the Long Jump. Going into her final jump, Williams was barely sitting in contention to score but with a big last jump giving her a half meter improvement, ended up taking the Region and West Conference Long Jump Crown with a mark of 5.98 meters (19' 7.5"). Not only was that a big personal best for Williams, it was good enough for her to qualify for the national championships as well as broke the school record that was set by Ebony Brown back in 2015.
-Beatriz Ferriera took 3rd in the Women's Shot Put with one of her top marks of the season (12.93 meters). Teammate Serena Degollado took 8th in the Region with mark of 11.48 meters; while Cloe Kalanick earned some conference points with her mark of 11.44 meters for the day.
-Cloe Kalanick took 4th in the Women's Hammer Throw, throwing a new personal best of 45.82 meters. Her new personal best sits her in the top 10 in the nation for the event. Teammate Beatriz Ferriera earned the Busters some conference points with her performance in the Hammer, earning a mark of 38.75 meters for the day.
-The relays had an outstanding weekend, scoring in each relay. Women's 4x400m Relay (Williams, Canini, Clemens, Chapa) took 7th in the region with a season best time of 4:26.66. Women's 4x800m Relay (Chapa, Cheruiyot, Clemens, White Eagle) took 8th with a season best time of 10:44.42. Women's 4x100m Relay (Campbell, Williams, Chapa, Canini) ran a season best time of 52.46.

-The Lady Busters placed 9th in the Region with a total of 26 team points, as well as placed 6th in the West Conference with a total of 64.50 points.
Men:
-Edwin Rodriguez turned some heads at the Region Championships with his 3rd place finish in the High Jump, clearing the mark of 1.97 meters, setting a new personal best. Rodriguez's performance also set a new school record for the event, beating out Denim Rodgers' record set back in 2017.
-Johnny Harris made a statement in the 400m dash, clocking in a nearly a 2 second improvement (48.33) to place 4th in the Region. While his time missed qualifying for nationals by .02 seconds; his performance puts him in on the top school list of 400 meter runners that have ever came through Garden City.
Men's 4x400 meter Relay (Harris, Miles, Randell, James) set a season best time of 3:23.30, good enough to place 8thin the region.
