
LA Junta, Colo. – The Trinidad State Trojans men's basketball team opened up it's 2024 campaign with an 88-92 loss to Colby on Friday followed by an 87-90 loss to RV New Mexico on Saturday afternoon at the Otero Classic in La Junta.
GAME 1: Trinidad State 88, Colby 92
The Trojans defense look strong to open the game against Colby where TSC held a 50-35 lead. Colby switched up it's efforts in the second half to outscore the Trojans 57-38 and take a 92-88 win.
The Trojans finished with a 52.5% shooting percentage as the team knocked down 14 three's on the night.
Lateef Patrick (So., Milton, Mass.) led the pace for the Trojans with 38 points off 11 of 23 shooting which included 7 made three's and 9 of 13 shooting from the free throw line.
Amir Reaves (So., Syracuse, N.Y.) added 14 points off 5 of 9 shooting from the field for TSC.
GAME 2: Trinidad State 87, RV New Mexico 90
TSC battled the Thunderbirds throughout the entire game, trailing 37-42 at the break. The Trojans outscored the T-birds in the second half, though it was not enough as RV New Mexico held on for a 90-87 victory over the Trojans.
The Trojans postponed the road game against Seward County, which was scheduled for tonight in Liberal, Kan. TSC will look ahead to its home-opener at the TSC Classic on November 8th and 9th where the Trojans will host NMMI on Friday at 6pm followed by Clarendon on Saturday at 3pm inside Scott Gym.
