The Colby Trojans fell to Cloud County Community College in Concordia Saturday by a score of 76-49.
In a competitive first quarter, the Trojans held a 13-12 lead at the end behind seven points from Peyton Pinkney.
Colby had good opportunities at the basket in the second quarter, but missed some important free throws. The Thunderbirds went on a run and led 33-26 at halftime.
The second half was all Cloud. Kayla Horton hit three consecutive 3-point shots and built the lead to 16 in a matter of minutes, putting the game out of reach entering the final quarter.
Jayla Sample finished with 18 points, five steals, and four rebounds. Pinkney also put in 18 points.
Alize Ruiz led the Thunderbirds with 19 points and 13 rebounds.
The Trojans are back home at the Colby Event Center on Sunday for a 2 p.m. contest with Independence Community College.
