COLBY, Kan. - The Trojans women's basketball team suffered two road losses this past week. Taking a big step up in competition level and opponents in Jayhawk conference play is always a challenge, especially on the road. On Tuesday (26th), the Trojans lost at the nation's top-ranked team and defending national champion, Hutchinson CC, who was riding a 45-game win streak. The opponent proved to be too much for the Trojans as they never got the offense going to stay in the game.
On Saturday (30th), the Trojans traveled to Garden City CC to face an aggressive team looking to climb up the league standings. Once again, the challenge on the road took its toll on the offensive end, as their physical play didn't allow a rhythm to be found.
"To say the Jayhawk conference is tough would be an understatement for sure. We have to do a better job of staying in the moment and competing to give ourselves a chance in these games. Uncertainty shows up when we are forced to really compete at home or away. Growth is the key for us right now, not so much on offense or defense, but just in how we approach these games. We have a long way to go and do have the kids to do it, just going to take more time and hard work. " stated coach Spence.
Colby will return to the Event Center on Wednesday, December 4th, at 5:30 p.m. CT to take on Cowley College.
