COLBY, Kan. - Colby Community College went down to Midland, Texas, and left with a perfect 4-0 weekend. Colby fought in their first match of the season against Panola College last Friday but ultimately prevailed in the fifth set 15-8. The Trojans highlighted the victory accorded on Saturday morning as they took down No. 10 New Mexico Junior College in straight sets. No. 18 Colby will travel to Laramie County Community College on August 30th for four matches, starting with No.3 Northeastern Junior College at 12:30 pm CT.
Colby vs. Panola College 8/23
On Friday, August 23, Colby Community College defeated Panola College 3-2 in a thrilling five-set match.
The match was closely contested, with both teams putting up an intense fight in each set. Colby Community College took the first set 25-23, but Panola College responded and won the second set 25-14. The teams continued to trade sets, with Colby Community College ultimately prevailing in the fifth set with a score of 15-8.
Colby Community College's Celia Mbaya led the team with 15 kills, while Karlotta Kattai and Viola Giangreco contributed 16 and 12 kills, respectively. Amanda Caputi provided 50 assists for the team, showcasing her playmaking abilities on the court.

Colby Community College displayed an impressive offensive performance, hitting at a .347 percentage as a team. Karlotta Kattai led the way with 13 kills, while Viola Giangreco added nine of her own. Amanda Caputi facilitated the offense with 31 assists.
Celia Mbaya led the Trojans with 16 digs, while Hédi Mayerhof and Karlotta Kattai contributed with two blocks each.
