
DeSchutter posts top-10 finish; Garden City third at Jayhawk No. 2
Wichita, KS-The Broncbuster men's golf team finished third and Anthony De Schutter took sixth at the Jayhawk No. 2 at Crestview Country Club on Tuesday.
DeSchutter bounced back from a 17th-place finish at Colbert Hills, firing rounds of 72, 73, and 68 to finish even for the tournament. His 4-under in the third round was the second lowest score of the tournament behind only Dodge City's Luka Stanisavljevic. It included three straight birdies on five, six, and seven to get him to 3-under on the front side. He added another birdie on 17 and saved par on 13 of the 18 holes.
Joshua Balson-Scales notched his second consecutive top-10 finish, placing 10th at 7-over par. He carded back-to-back 72's after a 4-over 76 in round one. And the sophomore's best moment came in the final round when he dropped in a 12-foot putt for birdie on the par-4 302-yard 12th hole.
Meantime Akarachai Sakunklee, who was sharp in the first round where he notched a 1-over 73, tied for 22ndat 14-over, Tiaan Diedericks was 28th at 20-over, and Garden City native, Jackson Koksal was 40th at plus-30.
Hutchinson captured its second straight team championship, and the Blue Dragons' Alex Lindstrom won the individual title.
