September 2 Johnson County Community College at Overland Park, Kansas
The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners soccer team fell to 13th-ranked Johnson County Community College 10-1 on Monday night, Sept. 2 in Overland Park, Kansas.
Johnson County led 3-0 at the end of the first half. They would add seven goals in the second half to take control of the contest.
SFCC got on the scoreboard in the second half when sophomore Ethan Phillips scored on a penalty kick with 13 minutes and 32 seconds remaining in the match.
Freshman Michele Tafani got the start in goal for SFCC.
September 7 Mineral Area College at Park Hills
SFCC (0-5, 0-1 in Region 16) lost a 5-0 match to the 19th ranked Mineral Area College Cardinals on Saturday, Sept. 9 in Park Hills. The match was the first Region 16 contest for the Roadrunners this season.
Mineral Area college got on the scoreboard with 17 minutes and 34 seconds remaining in the opening half. The Cardinals added another goal with less than 10 minutes remaining to take a 2-0 lead into halftime. Mineral Area added three second half goals to provide the winning margin.
Tafani got the start in goal for SFCC and made six saves.
