#6 Trojans defeat Garden City 3-1 on Saturday

COLBY, Kan. - Colby Community College hosted Garden City Community College last Saturday and defeated the Broncbusters 3-1. The sixth-ranked Trojans won with set scores of 25-16, 22-25, 25-11, and 25-9. With the victory, the Trojans improve to 16-2 on the year and 6-1 in the KJCCC. Colby will travel next week as Conference play continues with a road game against Hutchinson Community College on Wednesday, October 2nd, and at Cloud County Community College on Saturday, October 5th.
The game saw Colby Community College dominate the attack, with a 59-20 advantage in kills over Garden City Community College. Celia Mbaya led Colby with 20 kills, while Viola Giangreco added 16 kills. Amanda Caputi contributed significantly with 50 assists, showcasing excellent teamwork on the court.
Defensively, Colby also outperformed Garden City in blocks, with a 10-4 advantage. This solid defense, combined with their strong offense, allowed Colby to secure the win.
The Trojans will compete at Hutchinson on Wednesday at 6 pm CT and will return home on October 9th to face Butler Community College at 5:30 pm CT. This is also the Foundation of Hope match and will be a pink-out event.
