Waco, TX – The Indian Hills Softball team is set to open up its 2025 campaign with a two-day, four-game series in Waco, TX. Indian Hills kicks off the new year on Thursday afternoon.

LEADING OFF
The Indian Hills Softball team, under the direction of interim head coach Jim Overturf, is set to make its first appearance on the diamond this year with an 857-mile trek south to Waco, TX.
- The Warriors open the new year with a doubleheader against host McLennan Community College (TX) on Thursday before taking on non-league foes Dodge City Community (KS) and Alvin Community College (TX) on Friday.
- Indian Hills returns seven members of last year's squad to compliment 13 newcomers.
- The Warriors are coming off a 35-24 campaign after advancing to the NJCAA Region 11 Championship series, falling to eventual World Series qualifier Iowa Western Community College.
- Sophomores Ashlynn Sheets, an NJCAA All-Region 11 selection a year ago, and Alivia Ruble combined for nearly 200.0 IP in the circle for the Warriors.
- Peyton Raley and Ava Smith return to the lineup after NJCAA All-Region 11 honors as freshmen. The duo combined for over 100 hits and 76 runs on the year.
- Overturf takes the reigns of the program alongside assistant coach Kenadie Buysse and volunteer assistant and former Indian Hills standout Alex Beard.
SCOUTING THE HIGHLASSIES
McLennan, ranked No. 2 in the nation in the preseason poll, is off to a 7-2 start on the year after finishing as national runners-up at the 2024 NJCAA World Series.
- The Warriors have squared off with McLennan two times dating back to the 2011 season, but Thursday will be the team's first trip to Waco. McLennan defeated the Warriors at the 2016 NJCAA World Series in St. George, UT and dropped Indian Hills in Temple, TX in 2015.
- Through nine games this year, McLennan has tallied 92 runs while posting a .405 batting average.
- The pitching staff has posted a 2.92 earned run average while holding opposing hitters to .254 at the plate.
- The Highlassies are under the direction of seventh-year head coach Chris Berry.
SCOUTING THE CONQUISTADORS
Dodge City will head to Waco with four games under their belt before taking on the Warriors.
- The Conquistadors are off to a 1-3 start on the year after splitting with Coffeyville Community College (KS) and dropping a pair to Murray State College (OK).
- Dodge City has been outscored 34-14 on the year.
- The Conqustadors are coming off a 13-33 campaign a year ago.
- Indian Hills and Dodge City will be meeting for the first time dating back to the 2011 season.
SCOUTING THE DOLPHINS
Alvin is off to a 4-4 start on the year, having won three of its last four, including two wins in Lafeyette, LA.
- The Warriors are 2-1 vs. the Dolphins, having won a pair of games in Alvin, TX in 2022 along with a loss in Fort Worth, TX in 2019.
- Alvin has scored 56 runs on the year while batting .288 at the plate.
- The Dolphins are coming off a 27-29 record during the 2024 season.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Warriors will make their Iowa debut with a trip to Burlington February 14-15 at the SCC Turf Tournament.
