The Fort Scott Community College men's basketball team dropped their spring home opener on Monday, falling to Johnson County Community College 88-61. In a game originally scheduled for Saturday, the Hounds instead hosted the Cavaliers on Monday due to health and safety protocols related to the COVID-19 virus.
PG Peter Simon continued his steller season, scoring 23 points on 9/18 shooting while collecting 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Unfortunately, JCCC shot 55% as a team from the floor and was able to pull away from FSCC in the second half. The Hounds were outrebounded 46-31 in the game.
Down 11 at half, FSCC was able to mount an early charge to start the second period, closing the gap to 6 before JCCC hit some key shots. Leading the way for JCCC was Williams who had 23 points on the night.
The Hounds will travel to Chanute on Wednesday to face the Neosho County Community College Panthers (8-6, 0-1) at 7:30pm.
