NMJC women's basketball defeated Seward County Saturday afternoon at home 72-35.
The T-Birds were impressive in the first half leading 34-17 at halftime. Sophomore guard Delma Zita scored 14 points, added four assists, and three rebounds on 6-of-10 shooting from the field and 2-of-3 from downtown.
Sophomore forward Mariama Sow earned her first double-double of the year with 10 pts and a game-high 14 rebounds on 5-of-9 shooting from the field. Sophomore forward Danna Grenald finished with 13 rebounds on the afternoon.
The Thunderbirds shot 27-of-59 (45.8%) from the field and were 5-for-14 (35.7%) from the three-point line in the win. The T-Bird women forced 16 turnovers in the game.
The T-Birds move to 3-0 on the year. NMJC will play Wayland Baptist JV Monday, Nov. 14 at 5 p.m. CDT in Plainsview, TX.
