A slow start was too big to overcome as the Colby Community College women's basketball team fell to Garden City Community College 66-39 Wednesday night at the Colby Event Center.
The Trojans put only four first-half points on the board against the Broncbuster's 40 behind 15 from Dayshawna Carter.
The second half was more productive, as Colby outscored Garden 12-7 in the third quarter and 23-19 in the fourth. Aaliyah Chambers had a game-high 21 points with five of seven beyond the 3-point arc.
Garden's Jae'Mya Lyons put up a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds, and Carter finished with 17 points.
Colby resumes play Saturday in Goodland in a 6:30 p.m. tip against Northwest Kansas Technical College.
