Men's Basketball: Trojans Fall to Hutch

The cold weather did not affect the Hutchinson Blue Dragons, as they shot a blistering 54% (34-63) from the field to beat the Colby Community College Trojans in a Jayhawk Conference contest Tuesday night at the Colby Event Center. The game was moved up a day due to incoming winter weather.

Colby struck first to start the game, but an ensuing Dragons run had the Trojans playing from behind for the rest of the half. Hutch got up by as many as 16 and led 41-27 at the intermission.

The second half saw a much more even game as Colby's deficit stayed around 10 points. The Trojans were within nine with just over three minutes remaining. However, a 19-6 Hutch run squashed any hopes of a comeback.  

Elijah Wood paced the Trojans with 22 points. Anthony Sellars and Joshua O'Garro were also in double figures with 12.

The Blue Dragons had four players in double figures, led by a double-double from Aaron Franklin with 27 points and 10 rebounds.

The Trojans make the trek to Arkansas City on Saturday to take on the Cowley County Tigers. The tip is set for 3 p.m. after the women's game.
