NMJC men's basketball clawed past Pratt Community College Friday night 75-72.
Sophomore guard Micah Jones hit the go-ahead three-pointer with 1.8 seconds left in the game to beat the Beavers. Jones finished the night with 16 points shooting 6-for-10 from the field and 4-of-8 from behind the arc.
The T-Birds overcame a 14-point deficit in the second half to defeat Pratt.
The T-Birds went on an 11-0 run (44-47) to cut the lead to three with 11:11 left in the game. A layup by Logan McLaughlin gave the Thunderbirds a 60-59 lead with 6:37 left in the game. This was NMJC's first lead since the 1:51 mark in the first half.
Sophomore guard Josh Nwankwo finished the night with 16 points and eight rebounds on 6-of-13 shooting. Sophomore forward Lewis Rowe was 6-of-10 from the field with 13 points and six rebounds. Sophomore guard Logan McLaughlin added 12 points, seven rebounds, and 4 assists in the win.
The T-Birds were 30-for-65 (46.2%) from the field and shot 11-of-35 (31.4%) from the three-point line in the win.
The Thunderbirds move to 2-0 on the season and will host Yavapai Saturday at 12 p.m.
