COLBY, Kan. - Colby Community College battled on Saturday afternoon but dropped the conference game to Independence Community College 61-55.
The Trojans executed their offense, getting open looks at the basket from the three-point line and attacking the basket, but couldn't get the shots to drop. "Our offensive game plan works when we play with pace, and we execute leading to open looks. Stated Coach Spence. Another game of open looks, but the shots aren't falling for the Trojans this season.
After being down 17 points, the Trojans ramped up the defensive pressure and continued to find good looks while attacking the basket, that resulted in points. A case of too little too late saw the Trojans drop a six-point contest, showing how hard the team is playing and just what type of fight this group has. "Yes, it's frustrating to see our daily improvement in all areas, but yet still experience not making shots. However, we will continue to work hard each day, and we truly believe that one day the shots will start falling, and we will earn some wins. " said Coach Spence.
The Trojans travel to Pratt Community College on Wednesday, December 6th, then wrap up the first semester of play at home with Cloud County Community College on December 10th.
