An early second half miscue provided the difference maker Wednesday in Arkansas City as the Barton Community College women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision at No. 17 Cowley College.
The loss drops the Cougars to 5-1-1 in conference play and 6-1-1 on the season while Cowley improves to 4-1-1 in league and overall.
Barton had its chances in the first half but found slim pickens in the second half as Cowley controlled most of the second half including blitzing the Cougars in the first ten minutes of the second frame.
While the Cougars stymied a myriad of attacks, a misplay on a shaped corner kick utilizing the wind found the net providing the game winner with 43:07 to play.
The Cougars will look to regroup in the next few days before welcoming former Cougar Head Coach Shawn Uhlenhake and his 9th ranked Blue Devils of Kansas City Kansas Community College for a 2:00 p.m. kick on Saturday.
