The Indian Hills Men's Basketball squad returns to action after going 1-1 on the opening weekend of play at the Hellyer Center
STARTING FIVE
- The Warriors scored an 82-64 win over Cloud County on Friday night before falling to Butler 87-86 on Saturday.
- Sophomore William Beugre-Kassi was named this week's ICCAC Athlete of the Week after averaging 25.5 PPG for the Warriors last week, including his first-career double-double.
- Head coach Cole Dewey picked up his first win at Indian Hills in his debut on Friday, becoming the ninth consecutive head coach to win their debut with the Warriors.
- The Warriors went 1-1 in last year's RV & Powersports Classic, dropping a tight 74-68 matchup to No. 2 South Plains before taking down John A. Logan 88-72.
- Along with Tuesday's upcoming contest vs. Dodge City, Indian Hills is hosting five consecutive home games to open the year for the first time since 2016.
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
The Warriors will square off with Pratt (2-0) for the fifth time in program history, and first since 2019.
- The Beavers are 2-0 heading into the weekend with wins over Kansas Wesleyan JV and Sterling College JV.
- Pratt placed five individuals in double-figures in the season-opening 92-74 win over Kansas Wesleyan JV.
- The Beavers enter the new year under the direction of fourth-year head coach Kenny Eddy.
- Indian Hills is 4-0 all-time vs. the Beavers with wins in 2019, 2015, 1999, and 1991. The last two matchups have been at the Hellyer Center.
- Pratt will match up against Sauk Valley at 4:30 PM on Saturday night.
SCOUTING THE APACHES
Tyler (2-0) opened the season with a pair of wins at home, dropping Strength 'N Motion Prep (TX) 110-31 and Southwestern Christian College (TX) 84-76.
- Sophomore Joey Brown led the Apaches with 18 and 14 points, respectively in the first two contests of the year.
- The Apaches saw all five starters reach double-figures in the team's win over Southwestern Christian, accounting for 70 of the team's 84 points.
- Tyler is led by former Indian Hills head coach Mike Marquis who is in his 24th year with the Apaches.
- Indian Hills and Tyler have met just once before, a 78-46 win for the Warriors at the Hellyer Center on November 5, 2021.
- Tyler will open its weekend against Sauk Valley at 4:30 PM on Friday night.
