
Broncbusters breeze past Cloud County on the road
Concordia, KS-Garden City made quick work of Cloud County on Saturday.
Julia Brazil had 14 kills, Kinnley Flower chipped in with 12 assists, and the Broncbusters swept the Thunderbirds, 25-16, 28-26, 25-9 at Arley Bryant Gymnasium.
Vitoria Stedile added 12 digs, and Katarina Miscevic had three service aces for Garden City, which improved to 8-4 overall and 2-1 in the Jayhawk. They have now won eight out of their last 10 matches after starting 0-2.
Jacob Sander's team turned a 9-9 opening game into a laugher, closing the set on a 16-7 run polished off by a Stedile ace that dropped just inside the back line.
In the second, Garden City watched as Cloud County fought off seven straight set points to even things up. Eventually, the Thunderbirds took a brief lead before Brazil settled things down with a kill down the middle. Moments later, Olivia Majher delivered a game-closing ace to put the visitors up, 2-0.
There wasn't much drama in the third as Brazil's service ace gave the Broncbusters a commanding 13-3 edge. They finished the match by scoring 12 of the final 18 points.
Vitoria Reis tallied 11 assists and two aces for Garden City, and Duru Karagoz had three blocks.
