The Colby Community College women's basketball team dropped a hard-fought contest to Garden City Wednesday night at the Colby Community Building, 84-58.
The Lady Trojans only trailed 20-17 at the end of the first quarter, but second quarter turnovers led to easy Garden City points, and they faced a 42-28 halftime deficit.
Despite turning the ball over 32 times, Colby (4-12, 2-10 KJCCC) made 7-of-11 three-pointers and overall shot 44 percent from the floor. Kaitlyn Guillory had 14 points and five assists, while CCC had good contributions off the bench from Bailey Bixenman with 11 points and nine points and five rebounds from Elizabeth Keltz.
Garden City (10-6, 7-5) got a double-double from Shakendra Tilley, who had 15 points and 11 rebounds. Jada Washington added 21 points with four 3-pointers.
Next, Colby takes on Butler Community College (10-5, 7-5) Saturday in El Dorado. Tip is set for 5:30 p.m.
