
Broncbusters smoke McCook
Garden City, KS-Roy Higinbotham and Joshua Miller combined for seven RBI, Walker Maximick picked up his second win of the season in relief, and Garden City crushed McCook, 12-2 in seven innings Tuesday afternoon at Williams Stadium.
Sean Togher went 2-for-4 with three runs scored for the Broncbusters, which bumped their record to 14-12 overall.
Head Coach, Josh Oller used six pitchers with Maximick, who replaced Jace Reid in the third, allowing just a single unearned run.
Garden City broke the game open in the bottom of the third. Three straight walks loaded the bases before Higinbotham crushed a two-run double to right. Cody Kilpatrick followed with a sacrifice fly, Miller blooped a run-scoring single to shallow left, and Akoi Burton slapped a base hit that brought Brittain Brewer around. Justin Bush capped the frame with a sac fly to make it 7-1.
Higinbotham, who collected his first multi-hit game since March 6, roped an RBI double to deep left in the fourth before Miller was hit by a fastball up and in with the bases loaded to give Garden City a 9-1 cushion.
The Broncbusters scored two more in the fifth and one in the sixth when Sawyer Marshall sprinted home on a passed ball.
Garden City finished the day 9-of-14 with runners on and less than two outs and had five hits with men in scoring position. Kilpatrick had two RBI.
Reliever, Elvis Copnte was lit up for five runs in just 1/3 of an inning for McCook, which lost their third straight game to fall to 11-15 overall.
