Hounds Fall Late to NCCC

Hounds come up short vs. Neosho

Arnold Arena was rocking and the Hounds had the lead for most of the night, but the Neosho County Community College Panthers stole a win from Fort Scott Community College men's basketball team by the score of 59-58.  The Panthers took their only lead of the game with 8 seconds left and the Hounds missed the shot to win it as time expired.  It was a great game to start off the rivalry as NCCC moved to the Division II ranks starting this season.

Fort Scott's own Nick Lawrence, who played for Neosho last season, led the Hounds attack by scoring 17 points and collecting 8 rebounds.  Donavan Lewis (14) and Travis Bullock (10) also scored in double-digits for the Hounds.  FSCC struggled with free throws down the stretch, shooting only 8/16 in the second half, which allowed the Panthers to crawl back from a 14-point deficit.  The loss drops the Hounds to 14-12 overall and 4-6 in the conference.  The Hounds still hold the 4th spot over Neosho in the standings with playoffs rapidly approaching.

FSCC will travel to Parsons to take on Labette Community College on Saturday before returning home to face the Allen County Red Devils on 2/16 at 7:30pm.
