Wichita, KS-Corey Bryant's team started where they left off last season.
Jessica Newton and Andrea Aguilar each scored twice, Yvie Miller added two assists, and Garden City blanked Highland, 5-0 in their regular-season opener Thursday afternoon at Stryker Sports Complex.
The Broncbusters, who are fresh off the program's most successful season to date, which included their first-ever postseason victory, scored four goals over the final 12 minutes to seal the deal.
Newton, who was second on the team with nine goals a year ago, made it 4-0 in the 88th minute with a 30-yard missile after Highland's goalkeeper misplayed a shot. Her first score came 10 minutes earlier when Pratt transfer, Yvie Miller laid off a perfect ball to the sophomore just outside the box.
Newton also dished out two assists, which included a tremendous lead diagonal cross in between two center backs to Aguilar, who wiggled free inside the box before slipping it past the keeper for a 1-0 advantage nine minutes into the match. Her final assist came off a corner kick, which Ariel Martinez headed into the goal.
The Broncbusters outshot Highland, 23-5. Leydaly Enriquez had one save, and Ciah-Lilly Rudkin had two.
