Freshman Morgan Rohrbouck was solid at the plate and in
the field helping the Cougars get off to their best
start to a season since 2009. Batting .500 for the week
including two home runs and seven runs batted in,
Rohrbouck was also solid defensively with a .952
fielding percentage in twenty-one opportunities. In her
season debut and behind in the count 0-2, Rohrbouck
worked the count to full before driving the two-out solo
blast over the left center fence. In the first inning
of game one on Sunday, again Rohrbouck was down in the
count before driving a three-run shot to right center
giving the Cougars an early three-run lead.

Freshman Megan Short slugged 1.250 in her Hutchinson
Lady Dragon softball debut, going 4 for 8 with six RBIs
in Hutchinson�s split with the Sterling College JV. All
four of Short�s hits were for extra bases. Short went 2
for 4 with a double and her first career homer and drove
in four in the Lady Dragons� run-rule victory in Game 1
of the season-opening doubleheader. She went 2 for 4
with two doubles and two RBIs in Game 2.

Sharkey threw well in two games for the Lady Saints this
week, finishing the week with a 2-0 record and a 1.40
ERA. Wednesday against Pratt, Sharkey started and
nearly went the distance, tossing 6 2/3 innings,
allowing just 2 earned runs while striking out 2 and
picking up the win against the Beavers. On Sunday at
Frank Phillips she came out of the Seward bullpen with 3
1/3 innings of no hit ball to allow the Lady Saints to
come back for the win over the Lady Plainsmen.

Sophomore Alaina Stubblefield allowed only one run in 11
innings, while going 1-1 on the week. Stubblefield
struck out seven and walked just one in her two outings
for the Lady Pirates.
