KJCCC West Player of the Week: Nathan Hopkins – Seward County Community College
Nathan Hopkins was an offensive weapon for the Saints in their four-game series sweep over Vernon where he appeared at bat 17 times and recorded 9 hits for a batting average of .529 over the four-game stretch. Throughout the series sweep over the Chaps, Hopkins recorded 10 runs, 6 RBIs, 4 2Bs, 2 HR, and 15 Pos for Seward County with some of his biggest hits coming in the clutch of moments for SCCC. His two home runs in game four of the series to bring the Saints back from a four-run deficit to eventually lock the score back up while a line drive single out to right field drove in the game winning run for Seward County to complete the series sweep.

Co-KJCCC West Pitcher of the Week: Jack Macintosh – Cloud County Community College and Brian Hallum – Dodge City Community College
Jack Macintosh bookended the week for Cloud County with a save in their first game of the week before going on to throw a complete-game and get a win in their first road game of the week against Southeast CC. After throwing one inning of work and striking out two to get his first save of the year as part of a 7-6 win over Marshalltown CC to help Cloud County clinch a series victory, Macintosh got his first start of the season on the mound for CCCC in game three of a four-game series with the Bobcats and matched the most strikeouts recorded by any T-Bird in a single-outing this season. The complete-game victory for Macintosh was the first complete game thrown by a Cloud County pitcher this season while facing just six batters over the minimum and scattering six hits across the seven innings. Macintosh currently leads CCCC in appearances (4), innings pitched (14.0), strikeouts (23) and wins (2).

Dodge City baseball posted a 3-1 record over the weekend in home opening action with an 18-0 win over Highland capping the weekend. Brian Hallum was strong as the starter in the win tossing four scoreless innings to earn the win giving up just one hit and no walks, while striking out eight.
