Sophomore shortstop Jake Ek had two-game winning hits and a
tremendous offensive weekend overall to lead Hutchinson to its
first series victory over Garden City since 2008. For the
week, Ek was 9 of 14 (.643 BA) and had a .714 on-base percentage to
lead HCC from the No. 2 slot in the order. Ek drove in six runs,
including two game-winning RBIs. Ek’s only extra-base hit of
the weekend was an RBI triple. Ek delivered a walk-off
single in the bottom of the 8th inning to lead HCC to a 5-4 victory
in Game 1 vs. Garden City. He then hit a go-ahead two-run single to
break a 3-3 tie in the sixth in Game 2, which turned out to be the
game winner. Weekly Statistics
