COLBY, Kan. – With the 2024 Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Football season complete, the 2024 All-KJCCC Football teams have been announced with Hutchinson running back Waymond Jordan Jr. earning Offensive Player of the Year, Butler defensive tackle Seven Cloud earning Defensive Player of the Year, and Hutchinson head coach Drew Dallas earning Coach of the Year honors to highlight the major awards.
KJCCC Football Offensive Player of the Year – Waymond Jordan Jr. (Hutchinson)
The NJCAA Division 1 Football leader in rushing yards (1,332), rushing yards per game (133.2) and rushing touchdowns (18), Jordan Jr. posted eight games with over 100 rushing yards including a career-best 213-yard performance against Highland Community College on November 9th that garnered the sophomore KJCCC Football and NJCAA Football Offensive Player of the Week for Week 12 of the NJCAA Football season. Jordan Jr. was one of only two running backs in the NJCAA to eclipse the 1,100-yard mark this season and had 90 more rushing yards than the next closest running back D’mariun Perteet of Northwest Mississippi who played one more game than Jordan Jr. The 1,332 rushing yards are the seventh-most in Blue Dragon single-season history as the sophomore is 300 yards shy of the single-season Hutchinson record.
KJCCC Football Defensive Player of the Year – Seven Cloud (Butler)
A difference maker on the defensive front, Cloud ranked in the top 10 in the KJCCC in sacks (ninth, 5.5) and had one fumble recovery while recording 48.0 tackles in 11 games. Cloud was the KJCCC Football Defensive Player of the Week on October 29th which was followed by NJCAA Division 1 Football Defensive Player of the Week honors the next day after helping the Grizzlies upset then top-ranked Hutchinson 27-22 as the redshirt freshman had nine tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks against the Blue Dragons. Cloud also had three blocked field goals and a blocked extra-point attempt throughout the season.
KJCCC Football Coach of the Year – Drew Dallas (Hutchinson)
Earning his fourth KJCCC Football Coach of the Year award in five seasons as head coach, Dallas and the Blue Dragons are once again poised to make the NJCAA Football playoffs as HCC went 9-1 overall with their lone loss coming to Butler Community College. Handing top-ranked and two-time defending National Champion Iowa Western their only loss of the regular season, Hutchinson won a share of the KJCCC football regular season title and ranked in the top five in NJCAA Division 1 Football in points per game (45.0, 3rd), Red zone scores (43-55, 3rd), and rushing yards per game (264.7, 3rd) while topping the NJCAA in yards per game (474.0). Defensively, the Blue Dragons ranked in the top 10 in four different statistical categories (fumbles recovered, defensive interceptions, defensive touchdowns, and sacks) as HCC outscored opponents 450-145 (45.0-14.5 per game).
