COLBY, Kan. – Wins by Garden City and Dodge City in last week’s three-game slate among Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference schools have led to KJCCC Football Player of the Week honors for Broncbuster running back Dejuan Lacy along with Conquistador defensive players Tory Gethers and Amarian Louis.  

Offensive Player of the Week (Dejuan Lacy – Garden City) - Lacy had 155 total all-purpose yards for the #11 ranked Broncbusters in a 69-3 win over Ellsworth Community College. Included in the 155 all-purpose yards was 50 receiving yards on three receptions with one touchdown as the Broncbusters have now won three straight games to move into the top 10 of the NJCAA Football rankings.

Defensive Player of the Week (Tory Gethers – Dodge City) – Dodge City picked up their second win of the season beating number eight Highland on the road and the defense was stout holding the Scotties to just 202 total yards and just 5-16 on third down. Tory Gethers led the Conquistadors with 12 tackles along with two tackles for loss, two pass breakups, and two fumble recoveries. His 26 tackles this season ranks fifth in the KJCCC and Top 30 in the NJCAA.

Special Teams Player of the Week (Amarian Louis - Dodge City) – Dodge City picked up their second win of the season beating number eight Highland on the road and for the second straight week the Conquistadors first points of the game came on a blocked PAT returned for two points. Amarian Louis would return the blocked PAT for the second straight week to give the Conquistadors two points to make it a 6-2 game before seeing the offense score a fourth quarter touchdown to earn the road upset win.
