NJCAA Division 1 Football Week 9 Rankings
CHARLOTTE, NC – Along with an unchanged top 10 to the latest NJCAA Division 1 football rankings, the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference has four teams ranked and a fifth receiving votes in the week nine poll released on Monday, October 21st.
With no changes occurring to the top 10, Hutchinson remains atop the poll for a sixth straight week while extending their streak of consecutive polls being ranked to 42 following a 40-17 road win at Coffeyville as part of their second-straight trip to Southeast Kansas for a conference matchup. Also ranked in the top five for a second-straight week is Garden City Community College as the Broncbusters have reeled off six straight wins including a 21-10 road victory at Butler this past weekend as GCCC will get three of their final four games of the season at home at Broncbuster Stadium.
Falling two spots from 11th to 13th this week is Butler Community College following their 11-point home defeat to Garden City as the Grizzlies are now 3-3 on the season and remain in third place in the KJCCC standings as teams third through sixth in the conference standings are all separated by just two games. Joining Butler in this week’s rankings is 15th-ranked Coffeyville as the Red Ravens fell to 4-3 overall this season and will look to bounce back with a road non-conference matchup this coming weekend. Just outside the top 15 following a bye week is Dodge City as the Conquistadors are 4-3 overall and have won three of their past four games heading into a home game this weekend against Independence before closing out the season with back-to-back road games against currently ranked opponents.
The KJCCC is the only conference in the NJCAA Division 1 football poll with two teams ranked in the top five as two NJCAA football independents and Iowa Western join Hutchinson and Garden City in the top five. Across the entirety of the poll, the KJCCC is joined this week by the Mississippi Association Of Community College Colleges Conference as both conferences have four teams ranked and one receiving votes in the week nine poll. Also in the rankings are three teams from the Southwest Junior College Football Conference and Lackawanna College from the Northeast Football Conference in addition to the previously mentioned teams within the top five.
Two non-conference matchups with the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference and two conference clashes are scheduled for this weekend including a top five showdown between number two Iowa Western and number five Garden City with kickoff set for 11 AM at Broncbuster Stadium. In the lone other ranked matchup this week, top-ranked Hutchinson will host number 13-ranked Butler Community College with a 12 PM kickoff at Gowans Stadium. Also playing this week is Independence with a trip to Dodge City for a 1 PM kickoff while Coffeyville is at Ellsworth Community College for a 1 PM kickoff in Iowa Falls, Iowa.
