NJCAA Division 1 Football Week 12 Rankings
CHARLOTTE, NC – Minor changes for Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference football teams took place in the latest NJCAA Division 1 Football poll three teams making moves up the poll released on Tuesday, November 12th.
Hutchinson is now tied for second with Georgia Military College with 135 points in the Week twelve poll as the Bulldogs wrapped up their regular season last week with a win over Lackawanna College while HCC has one game remaining in the regular season. Both Georgia Military and Hutchinson trail only top-ranked Iowa Western who received 150 points and all 12 first-place votes as IWCC defeated Georgia Military on the road earlier this season while the Blue Dragons defeated Iowa Western on the road the following week.
Coffeyville moves up another spot in the rankings after taking care of Independence last weekend at home in their home finale as the Red Ravens are off this weekend before playing in the final game of the KJCCC regular season on November 23rd with a trip to El Dorado to take on Butler in a game that was originally schedule for September 21 and was postponed due to weather. The game on the 23rd has significant meaning for both teams with Butler having already clinched at least a share of the KJCCC Football regular season title while Coffeyville could earn a share of the title with a win over the Grizzlies.
As for Butler, the Grizzlies rebounded from a four-spot drop last week to move back up three spots after defeating previously ranked Dodge City 28-14 to occupy the number 11 spot in this week’s rankings. All three losses for BCC this season have come in non-conference play with two against teams ranked in the top five of this week’s poll (Iowa Western, Snow College) ahead of their final non-conference game of the year when the Grizzlies host Iowa Central on Saturday afternoon.
For five of the seven KJCCC schools, this weekend will wrap up the final week of the regular season as just one KJCCC game is on the schedule for Saturday. In non-conference action, Highland will host top-ranked Highland at 1 PM, Independence is hosting Ellsworth in a 1 PM kickoff, and Butler is at home to host Iowa Central in a 1:30 PM kickoff. The lone matchup featuring two conference schools could play a role in both the KJCCC regular season title race and the conference’s hopes of having an NJCAA football playoff team as number three Hutchinson heads to Garden City for an 11 AM kickoff. The Blue Dragons need a win to solidify their spot in the NJCAA football playoffs while a victory would also give HCC hope at a share of the KJCCC football regular season title as a Coffeyville win over Butler on November 23rd could create a three-way tie for the regular season conference title.
