NJCAA Division 1 Football Week 13 Rankings
CHARLOTTE, NC – With just one week and three games left as part of the NJCAA Football regular season schedule, the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference continues to have four teams ranked including three in the top 10 as team try to solidify their postseason chances in the NJCAA Division 1 Football Poll released on Monday, November 18th.
After being tied for second in the week 12 poll last week with Georgia Military College, Hutchinson is now in sole possession of second place after receiving 138 points and two first place votes as the gap continues to narrow between the Blue Dragons and top-ranked Iowa Western. Hutchinson defeated Iowa Western back on week two of the season by a score of 38-37 as the two have combined to win three of the past four NJCAA Football National Championships.
A one spot improvement for both Coffeyville and Butler see the Red Ravens move from ninth up to eighth despite being idle last week with no game while the Grizzlies go from 11th up to 10th following their thrilling last-second 7-3 win over Iowa Central at home as the two teams will officially close out the KJCCC football regular season on Saturday in El Dorado when they make up their previously postponed contest from September 21. Dodge City Community College jumps back into the rankings to grab the number 15 spot despite ending their season two weeks ago as the Conquistadors finished the year with a 6-4 overall record and will look to earn a berth into a bowl game for a second-straight year.
While action may be limited across the nation this weekend, there is plenty on the line at BG Products Veterans Sports Complex on Saturday when Butler hosts Coffeyville at 11 AM as the Grizzlies can win an outright KJCCC football regular season title with a win over the Red Ravens on Saturday. Butler will enter the game with perfect 5-0 mark in the KJCCC while Coffeyville is 4-1 in conference play as the Red Ravens can earn a share of the regular season title with a road win. If Coffeyville were to win, the KJCCC will have tri-champions with Butler, Coffeyville, and Hutchinson all finishing the year with a 5-1 mark in conference play. The game will also mark the 99th overall meeting between Coffeyville and Butler as the series dates back to 1929 (Coffeyville leads the series 51-45-2).
Other games around the NJCAA this weekend include number six Navarro at number seven Tyler Junior College while Community Christian (Michigan) plays host to College of Dupage. None of the three games taking place are expected to have much of an impact on the NJCAA Division 1 Football Playoff selections that will come out next week with Iowa Western, Hutchinson, Georgia Military, and Northwest Mississippi Community College all having already completed their regular seasons. If the top-four remain the same next week, Iowa Western will host Northwest Mississippi in one National Semifinal matchup while Hutchinson would host Georgia Military in the other National Semifinal game with the winners meeting on Wednesday, December 18th in Canyon, Texas for the 2024 NJCAA Division 1 Football National Championship.
