After tying an NJCAA scoring record with a 99-0 home win over Ellsworth Community College on Saturday, Hutchinson remains the number one ranked team for a fourth straight week as the Blue Dragons are 4-0 this season despite having yet to play a conference opponent Also winning in shutout fashion last week was Garden City Community College with a 63-0 road win at Community Christian (Michigan) to improve to 4-1 overall while moving up another two spots to number six for their highest ranking of the season and the third-highest ranked team that is not undefeated. Moving back into the top 10 following a one-week absence is Highland as the Scotties took care of business at home with a 31-7 home win over Independence to improve to 4-1 overall while earning their first conference win of the season. Dodge City jumps back into the rankings after overcoming a 21-point deficit against Iowa Central to improve to 3-2 overall and be ranked number 14 this week ahead of fellow KJCCC member and number 15-ranked Butler who dropped to 2-2 following a 21-14 defeat to number three Snow College. Receiving votes for a second-straight week is Coffeyville despite dropping a 42-20 road decision to number two Iowa Western last week.
The KJCCC is again one of two conferences to have six teams ranked or receiving votes (Mississippi Association Of Community Colleges Conference) with no other conference having more than four teams ranked or receiving votes. Also featured in this week’s rankings are four teams ranked or receiving votes from the Southwest Junior College Football Conference, Iowa Western as the lone ranked team from the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference, and two of the seven independent teams not affiliated with a conference with both ranked in the top five (Snow College, Georgia Military).
Following a six-game week last week, just three games are on the schedule this week as all three games taking place will be conference matchups.
