KJCCC Cross Country Runners of the Week - Week 6

COLBY, Kan. – Earning event wins and leading the Cloud County Community College cross country teams to their first team titles of the year, Thunderbird runners N Vanee Anchike and Felix Surtan have been named Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Cross Country Runners of the Week.  

N Vanee Anchike (Cloud County) – Anchike ran her second-best time of the season to win the Neosho County Community College invitational despite running in 90-degree heat at the start of the race. Finishing with a time of 17:51.60, Anchike was over 40 seconds faster than any other runner in the field as the T-Birds had the top three finishers and won the team event with 30 total points as all five runners finished in the top 13.

Felix Surtan (Cloud County) – Surtan earned his first event win of the year by running a time of 27:24.10 to top the 36-runner field at the Neosho County Community College Invitational. His time was a personal best and was 15 seconds better than any other runner in the field as the T-Birds won the team title with all five scoring runners finishing in the top 10 as CCCC defeated host Neosho County 23-45 in the team scoring.
