Region VI Basketball Men's Championship Games Recap
Here is a quick recap of the two Men's Region VI basketball championships held on March 7 in Park City.
Region VI Division II Men's Championship
Park City, Kan. – The Highland Scotties faced down a stubborn Labette team to win the Division II Region VI title, 83-65.
All-KJCCC standout Holden Redparth led Highland with 29 points and 11 rebounds. Taiveyhon Mason and Alonzo Williams both finished with 15 points. Labette was led with 24 points from Justin Newman.
The Scotties are now headed to Danville, Ill. for nationals. The tourney is March 20-24,
Region VI Division I Men's Championship
Park City, Kan. – Hutchinson was playing in their sixth straight Region VI title game, but Coffeyville won their second straight championship with an 82-80 hard-nosed victory in Hartman Arena.
Tournament MVP Travis Washington led the Red Ravens with 19 points, while Keon Queen had 15 points and nine rebounds. Hutch was led by James Rojas with 21 points.
Coffeyville advances to the national tournament in the Hutchinson Sports Arena, March 19-24.
