2018 Men's Basketball All-KJCCC Awards
ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. – JJ Rhymes was named the Division I Player of the Year which marked the third consecutive year that a Hutchinson Blue Dragon has claimed the award while Jay Herkelman (Coffeyville) earned Coach of the Year honors after guiding the Red Ravens to the KJCCC regular season title. Johnson County swept the Player and Coach of the Year honors as Anthony Lupardus was named player of the year and Mike Jeffers earned Coach of the Year as they earned the Division II regular season title.
Barton freshman Kawanise Wilkins was named the Division I Freshman of the Year and Johnson County's Xavier Womack earned the honor among Division II players. The Division I Defensive Player of the Year was Jeff Otchere from Garden City who led the conference with nearly four blocks per game. Claiming the Division II Award was Tyson Beringer of Kansas City Kansas who also led the conference in blocks with 2.5 per game.
The Barton Cougars led the way with three players earning Division I First Team All-KJCCC honors while Coffeyville and Hutchinson each placed two on the first team. Among Division II teams Fort Scott led the way with two on the first team.
The All-KJCCC awards are selected by the league's head coaches, who are not allowed to vote for their own players.
