KJCCC Men's Division II Basketball Athlete of the Week, Week 2
The #7 Highland Men's basketball team improved to 4-0 last week starting a season 4-0 for the first time since 2015-16 season after picking up three wins last week. Sophomore point guard, Taiveyhon Mason led the way for Highland with three 20+ point performances. Mason helped the Scotties win in routing fashion on the road against Missouri Southern State JV as he posted 25 points on 10-14 shooting, hitting four three's in the 106-41 win. Highland then capped the week going 2-0 at the Gladbach Classic in Fort Scott, Kansas beating Neosho County 79-68 and Louisiana Christian Prep 98-58. Mason posted a career high 27 points in the win over Neosho County going 9-15 from the floor and 8-10 from the free throw line and followed that performance up with 22 points on 10-13 shooting in the win over Louisiana Christian Prep. Through four games this season Mason is averaging 22.8 points per game while shooting 65% from the floor and as added 3.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.5 steals per game.
