CHARLOTTE, NC – For the second-straight season, both Cowley College and Barton Community College will represent the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference in the NJCAA Division 1 Men’s Basketball National Tournament with both teams being selected for the 2025 field.
Winners of the NJCAA Region 6 Division 1 Men’s Basketball Tournament and automatic berth into the NJCAA Division 1 National Tournament, Cowley has received the number two seed in the 24-team tournament after winning their first NJCAA Region 6 Men’s Basketball Tournament title since 2021when the Tigers advanced to the National Title game and fell to conference foe Coffeyville. Cowley’s seed will allow the Tigers to have a first-round bye and await the winner of number 15 seed Triton College and number 18 seed Columbia State College as the National Tournament will get underway for Cowley at 2:30 PM on Monday, March 24th.
After falling in the NJCAA Region 6 Division 1 Men’s Basketball Tournament title game, Barton received one of eight at-large berths into the National Tournament and will get a chance to defend their 2024 National Title as the number nine-seed. The Cougars will play in the first game of day number two of the tournament on Sunday, March 23rd at 12 PM against number 24 seed Brunswick Community College, with the winner advancing to take on number eight seed Daytona State College in a second-round game.
With the Tigers and Cougars on separate sides of the bracket, neither team would see each other unless both were to advance to the 2025 NJCAA D1 Men’s Basketball National Championship Game. Top seeds on Barton’s side of the bracket include number one-seed Snow, number four-seed South Plains, and number five-seed Jones College while the Tigers are joined on their side of the bracket by number three-seed Indian Hills, number six-seed Panola, and number seven-seed Trinity Valley Community College.
