COLBY, Kan. – Leading their respective teams to three-win weeks last week, Fort Hays Tech Northwest guard Chase Harris and Johnson County Community College forward Tavian Cruse have earned Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honors.      

Chase Harris – Fort Hays Tech Northwest (KJCCC Division 1 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week)
Harris lit up the scoreboard for Fort Hays Tech Northwest last week, leading the Tigers to a perfect 3-0 week which included a home upset of Barton Community College to cap off the week. Starting with a 39-point outing against Pratt, Harris added 11 rebounds and four steals against the Beavers in a 90-86 win before scoring 14 points and grabbing another 11 rebounds as FHNW defeated Dodge City 87-84 on the road. Finishing the week against the number 13 ranked Cougars, Harris scored 15 points on five-of-eight shooting and added six rebounds and three assists as the Tigers earned a 99-92 win. Harris is the second-leading scorer in the KJCCC this season at 21.9 points per contest, ranking 11th among all NJCAA D1 players.

Tavian Cruse – Johnson County (KJCCC Division 2 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week)
Johnson County freshman forward Tavian Cruse averaged 16.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, and made 79.3 percent of his shot attempts while leading the 10th-ranked Cavaliers to three wins last week to help JCCC secure the 2024-25 KJCCC Division 2 regular season title. Cruse opened the week with 17 points and eight rebounds in a 109-53 win over Baker JV before tallying 20 points and nine rebounds in a 91-60 win at Labette. Capping off the week in a win over Fort Scott, Cruse had 12 points and 10 rebounds in an 80-74 win that allowed Johnson County to improve to 26-3 overall this season.
