KJCCC Men's Basketball Players of the Week - Week 5
COLBY, Kan. – Career-best outings for Coffeyville Community College’s Brian Griffith and Johnson County Community College’s Tavian Cruse have led to Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honors for week 5 of the 2024-25 season.
Brian Griffith – Coffeyville (KJCCC Division 1 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week)
Red Raven sophomore guard Brian Griffith had an outstanding holiday week on the basketball court. On Tuesday, Griffith scored a career-high 29 points to help Coffeyville come back from a 19-point deficit to defeat Independence 98-94. Then on Friday, Griffith went on to another career-high as he scored 30 points as the Ravens defeated Arkansas State-Newport 69-53. For the week, Griffith shot 52 percent (20-38) from the field and 46 percent (6-13) from beyond the arc as well averaging 3.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game in helping the Ravens to two victories.
Tavian Cruse – Johnson County (KJCCC Division 2 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week)
JCCC freshman forward Tavian Cruse posted his sixth double-double in his first 10 games as a collegiate player in a 111-42 romp over Kansas Christian JV on November 26th. The Bonner Springs, Kansas native finished with 17 points and a season-high 16 rebounds to lead the Cavaliers to their eighth straight win and ninth victory this season. Cruse was efficient from the field, making 7-of-10 shot attempts while also going one-for-one from three-point range and two-of-two at the free-throw line.
