CHARLOTTE, NC – After seeing a battle of ranked teams lead to a 35-game winning streak snapped for Barton Community College, shakeups among the latest NJCAA Men’s Basketball polls have four teams ranked and two more receiving votes in the latest Division 1 and Division 2 polls released on Monday, December 2nd.
All four ranked teams this week from the KJCCC see their ranking changed from a week ago as Barton remains the highest-ranked team from the conference in either poll at number six in the Division 1 poll despite dropping a 74-71 home decision to Cowley. Also ranked in the Division 1 poll is number nine Butler as the Grizzlies move up two spots following road wins at Seward County and at Dodge City last week to improve to 8-1 overall and 3-0 in the KJCCC while Cowley makes the biggest move of any team in this week’s rankings by moving up six spots to hold the number 13 ranking this week with a 9-1 overall record. Receiving votes for a second-straight week is Cloud County as the Thunderbirds bounced back from their first defeat of the season to Barton by escaping Goodland with an 87-86 win over Fort Hays Tech Northwest on a last-second made three.
In the NJCAA Division 2 men’s basketball poll this week, Johnson County is the lone team from the KJCCC to be ranked by holding the number 13 ranking this week after picking up a home win in their only game last week to improve to 9-1 overall. Just outside the top 25 is Kansas City Kansas as the Blue Devils are receiving votes this week following a road loss to number three North Central Missouri before picking up an overtime road win at Southeast Community College to split their action last week.
With six games spread across the Division 2 level on Monday and Tuesday, the action heats up on Wednesday when KJCCC play resumes at the D1 level with six conference matchups taking place. Included in Wednesday’s slate is a top 10 battle between number six Barton and number nine Butler in El Dorado while the D2 schedule will have a ranked battle on Saturday, December 7th with number 13 Johnson County at number three North Central Missouri for the first of two scheduled matchups between teams this season.
