First NJCAA Men's Basketball Rankings Of 2025 Feature Seven KJCCC Teams
NJCAA Division 1 Men’s Basketball Week 7 Poll | NJCAA Division 2 Men’s Basketball Week 7 Poll
CHARLOTTE, NC – In the first NJCAA men’s basketball rankings of 2025, seven Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference teams are ranked or receiving votes with plenty of shuffling taking place among the teams in the week seven polls of the 2024-25 season released on Monday, January 13th.
Of the seven ranked that are ranked or receiving votes this week, five are in the NJCAA Division 1 men’s basketball top 25 poll with four teams holding a ranking inside the top 13 along with one team receiving votes as the conference makes up over 25 percent of the top 15 teams in the poll. Leading the way is number nine ranked Cowley College as the Tigers have won 12 of their past 13 games with their lone loss in the stretch coming at Hutchinson Community College while defeating two of the other ranked three teams on the road. Two spots back of Cowley is number 11 Butler Community College to start a log jam of KJCCC teams as the Grizzlies are one spot ahead of number 12 ranked Coffeyville Community College and two spots ahead of number 13 ranked Barton Community College. The Red Ravens moved up 11 spots from their previous ranking of number 23 while the Cougars make a four-spot leap in this week’s poll after being ranked number 17 in the last poll released on December 16th. Collectively, Butler, Coffeyville, and Barton are 39-9 this season with two of the losses coming against one another and two the remaining losses coming to Cowley. Entering this week’s poll as a team receiving votes is Hutchinson as the Blue Dragons have won five straight games dating back to December 11th with back-to-back wins over ranked foes Cowley and Butler to start the month of January.
Two teams represent the conference in the latest NJCAA Division 2 men’s basketball top 25 poll with Johnson County moving up three spots up to number 11 as the Cavaliers are 13-3 overall this season with two of their three losses coming to top-ranked North Central Missouri College. Kansas City Kansas is receiving votes in this week’s poll as the Blue Devils opened KJCCC last Saturday with a 98-51 road win at Labette to improve to 10-6 overall with four of their six losses coming by a total of 12 points and the other two losses coming to North Central Missouri College.
Among this week’s schedule for the conference includes a Monday afternoon tilt between Garden City and Cloud County on the D1 side of things before 10 games on Wednesday night with the lone matchup of ranked teams featuring Johnson County heading across the metroplex to take on Kansas City Kansas. 10 More matchups are then in store on Saturday including a clash between Butler and Cowley in Arkansas City along with Coffeyville heading to Great Bend to take on Barton in D1 action.
