Six KJCCC Teams Ranked, Two More Receiving Votes In Latest NJCAA Men's Basketball Polls
NJCAA Division 1 Men’s Basketball Week 8 Poll | NJCAA Division 2 Men’s Basketball Week 8 Poll
CHARLOTTE, NC – As Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference play heats up across the league with all 21 teams in the heart of their conference schedule, the KJCCC has six teams ranked and two more receiving votes in the latest NJCAA Men’s Basketball polls released on Tuesday, January 21st.
Five of the six ranked teams come in the latest NJCAA Division 1 top 25 poll with one more receiving votes while the NJCAA Division 2 poll features one ranked team and one team receiving votes from the KJCCC. Featured within those ranked this week is one newcomer (Hutchinson) to the Division 1 poll while all six teams that are ranked hold new rankings from the prior polls released on January 13th.
The NJCAA Division 1 poll has current KJCCC leader Cowley College as the highest-ranked team from the league by coming in at number five, a four-spot jump from the prior week and the fifth time this season in eight polls that the league has had a team ranked in the top five. The next team from the KJCCC ranked is Coffeyville at number 13 following a 1-1 week for the Red Ravens while Butler sits one spot back at number 14 after dropping a road decision to Cowley to end their week with a 1-1 mark. Joining the rankings after being among those receiving votes last week is Hutchinson as the Blue Dragons picked up wins over Seward County and Dodge City last week to run their win streak to seven games and improve to 13-5 overall. After being ranked last week, Barton falls to the list of those receiving votes as the Cougars fell 1112-11 in overtime to Independence before upsetting Coffeyville at home last week.
Very little change within the NJCAA Division 2 poll for the KJCCC saw Johnson County move up one spot to 10th as the Cavaliers picked up their second and third straight wins with victories over Kansas City Kansas and Highland to remain the lone unbeaten KJCCC D2 team in conference play. JCCC has won 14 of their last 16 games, with the lone losses coming to top-ranked North Central Missouri College. Kansas City Kansas remains among those receiving votes for a fifth-consecutive week.
Just one matchup featuring teams that are ranked or receiving votes is set for this week with Barton making the short trip to Hutchinson to take on the Blue Dragons with KJCCC Division 1 action starting the second half of their 24-game conference schedule. Eight games are scheduled for Wednesday evening with four games at the Division 1 level and four more at the Division 2 level before seeing a pair of D1 games on Thursday evening setting the stage for a 10-game slate on Saturday afternoon across the league for 20 of the 21 teams in the league.
