KJCCC Men's Basketball Teams Remain Unchanged In Division 2 Poll, Shuffling Occurs In D1 Poll
NJCAA Division 1 Men’s Basketball Week 11 Poll | NJCAA Division 2 Men’s Basketball Week 11 Poll
CHARLOTTE, NC – With no changes for Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 2 men’s basketball teams in the latest top 25 poll, there was no shortage of change for conference teams in the latest Division 1 top 25 poll as all four ranked teams hold new rankings from the prior week in the polls released on Monday, February 10th.
Starting with the NJCAA Division 2 poll, Johnson County continues to hold its number 10 ranking after extending their winning streak to nine games in a row to improve to 21-3 overall. Holding a two-game lead plus the head-to-head tiebreaker in the KJCCC Division 2 standings, Johnson County has not lost since falling 67-56 to top-ranked North Central Missouri on January 9th and is outscoring conference opponents by nearly 18 points per game. The only other team to appear from the KJCCC in the Division 2 rankings is Kansas City Kansas as the Blue Devils split their action last week with a loss to Johnson County to remain among those receiving votes with a 17-8 overall record.
The highest ranked team from the KJCCC in either of the two polls comes in the form of Cowley in the Division 1 poll as the Tigers improved one spot up to number eight this week after earning wins over Fort Hays Tech Northwest and Colby last week ahead of a week that will see them take on both Montgomery County foes in Independence and Coffeyville. As for Coffeyville, the Red Ravens fell four spots after dropping a home decision to Garden City in their only action of the week after seeing their game with Hutchinson postponed to Monday evening while sitting one spot ahead of Barton who is ranked 15th after winning six of their past seven games including both games last week over Butler and Pratt. Butler is ranked number 24 this week as the Grizzlies have lost three of their past five games which included their only game last week at Barton as a three-game week is currently scheduled for BCC this week.
With schedule changes from last week’s games due to weather along with the potential for a winter storm system that is scheduled to impact much of the state Tuesday night into Wednesday, action is currently slated to take place each of the next three days and four of the next six days as three games are scheduled for Monday night before a pair of games on Tuesday with teams already adjusting for the expected weather. As of now, eight games are scheduled for Wednesday before getting back to a more traditional 10-game schedule on Saturday that will see 20 of the 21 conference schools in action. Any changes that occur to this week’s schedule will be announced by the impacted schools as they take place along with updated game dates.
