Four of Five Ranked KJCCC Men's Basketball Teams See Rankings Improvements In Latest NJCAA Polls
NJCAA Division 1 Men’s Basketball Week 13 Poll | NJCAA Division 2 Men’s Basketball Week 13 Poll
CHARLOTTE, NC – After consecutive weeks of teams being moved around within the NJCAA Division 1 and 2 men’s basketball top 25 polls, the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference saw things settle back in with four of their five teams represented in the rankings this week moving up in their respective polls.
The KJCCC Division 1 men’s basketball outright conference winner Cowley College moved up two spots to continue its claim as the highest-ranked team from the league in either poll as the Tigers are back up to number six following wins over Hutchinson and Garden City last week. Also moving up in the latest NJCAA Division 1 men’s basketball poll was Coffeyville as the Red Ravens have now won three straight games which included a home win over Butler and a road win at Pratt last week to see the Red Ravens make a three-spot improvement up to 18th. Sandwiched between Cowley and Coffeyville is Barton as the Cougars were the only ranked conference school from last week to see their ranking fall this week as a 1-1 week led to a three-spot drop down to number 16.
Following four straight weeks holding the number 10 ranking, Johnson County finally sees their ranking change for the first time since January 13th as the Cavaliers made a one-spot improvement up to ninth after securing an outright KJCCC Division 2 basketball title last week while improving to 26-3 overall and 13-0 in KJCCC play with one game left in the regular season. Also moving up in the Division 2 poll was Kansas City Kansas as the Blue Devils picked up another two spots up to number 20 following a road win at Allen in their only action last week with two home games coming up this week.
Outside of the number one and two seeds in the upcoming NJCAA Region 6 Division 2 men’s basketball tournament being secured, this week’s action will help determine the rest of the seeding for the eight-team tournament as Division 2 schools will close out their regular season on Wednesday night as part of a week with Region tournament implications taking place in both Division 1 and Division 2 play. Action gets underway on Monday evening with three games taking place across the league before seeing 10 games scheduled for Wednesday night as part of the final day that is scheduled to have a double-digit number of games taking place in the league. Saturday will feature a six-game slate across the league for Division 1 schools as all 13 conference schools at the D1 level are down to three or fewer games left in their regular season.
