KJCCC Men's Basketball Teams See New Rankings In Final NJCAA Polls Of Regular Season

CHARLOTTE, NC – Leaving its mark on the final NJCAA Men’s Basketball top 25 polls of the regular season, the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference saw four of its five ranked teams from last week move u in the polls while a sixth team from the conference is now receiving votes in the week 14 polls released on Monday, March 3rd.
Included in the group of teams moving up the rankings are two teams in both the NJCAA Division 1 men’s basketball poll and NJCAA Division 2 men’s basketball poll with Cowley remaining the highest-ranked team from the conference in either poll by coming in this week’s Division 1 poll with the number five ranking. Following the one-spot jump up for the Tigers is a two-spot improvement for number 14 Barton Community College as the Cougars picked up wins over Colby and Independence last week to secure a top-three finish in the final KJCCC Division 1 regular season standings. Coffeyville falls three spots in the Division 1 poll down to number 21 following a 1-1 week that saw a home win over Seward County spoiled by a road loss at Dodge City that snapped a four-game winning streak for the Red Ravens. Having won four of their last five games and sporting a 19-10 overall record, Hutchinson is back into the group of teams receiving votes after securing a first-round bye in the upcoming NJCAA Region 6 Tournament.
Following up their one-spot improvement from last week is Johnson County as the Cavaliers made another one-spot move up the rankings to eighth this week after finishing KJCCC Division 2 play with a perfect 14-0 conference record. Joining the Cavaliers in moving up the rankings is Kansas City Kansas with the Blue Devils up another spot after last week’s two-spot bump by moving up to 19th in this week’s poll with a 22-8 overall record.
There will be no shortage of action this week as the schedule kicks off on Monday night with four NJCAA Division 2 Region 6 Tournament games being hosted by the top four teams in the final KJCCC Division 2 regular season standings. The four winning teams will advance to the semifinals which will be played on Friday, March 7th inside the JCCC Gymnasium on the campus of Johnson County Community College in Overland Park. As for KJCCC D1 play, the regular season will conclude for all 13 teams on Wednesday night with the schedule highlighted by a top 25 matchup between number 14 Barton and number 21 Coffeyville in Coffeyville along with road games for both Dodge City and Fort Hays Tech Northwest as the teams try and secure a first-round home game in the upcoming NJCAA Region 6 Tournament.
