2024 KJCCC Division 1 Volleyball Players of the Week - Week 3

COLBY, Kan. – Seward County Community College sophomore Lisa Gomez along with Dodge City’s Beatriz Cornachini and Hayden Pinard have earned Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 1 Volleyball Players of the Week for week three of the 2024 volleyball season.  

Offensive Player of the Week (Beatriz Cornachini – Dodge City) – Helping the Conquistadors put together a strong week by going 4-1 overall which includes a KJCCC opening win over rival Garden City and 3-1 showing at Odessa College Invite with a win over number 14 ranked New Mexico Junior College, Cornachini recorded three double figure kill performances including 18 against number 17 Navarro. Cornachini also had a double-double with 12 kills and 11 digs in win over Temple and another near double-double with 10 kills and nine digs vs New Mexico JC. On the week she recorded 54 kills, three aces, 48 digs, and eight blocks.

Setter of the Week (Hayden Pinard – Dodge City) – Pinard was another key piece in helping Dodge City go 4-1 last week with a four-set win in their KJCCC opener over rival Garden City before seeing the Conquistadors go 3-1 at the Odessa College Invite which included a win over number 14 ranked New Mexico Junior College. Throughout the week, Pinard helped lead the way for the DCCC offense as she recorded 124 assists with a 6.89 assist per set average to go along with 37 digs, five service aces, and one kill. Notching 33 digs vs Navarro and 30 against Temple, Pinard wrapped up the Odessa College Invite with a double-double with 25 assists and a career-best 18 digs in the upset win over NMJC.

Defensive Player of the Week (Lisa Gomez – Seward County) – Lisa Gomez was a force on the back line for the Lady Saints who split a pair of matches in KJCCC action with a loss to Hutchinson and a win over Cloud County. Averaging 6.00 digs per set, Gomez recorded 18 digs in a three-set match against Hutchinson before having a 24-dig match in a four-set win over Cloud County three days later.
